Anganwadi Centres in the Tribal Area of Manipur (with special reference to Churachandpur District)

This study explored the standard of Anganwadi centres in Shamulamlan Block, one of the tribal blocks of Churachandpur District in Manipur. Through observations and interviews the physical environment, accommodation and pre-school play materials were assessed. Only a few of the Anganwadi Centres are found to be functioning in proper buildings constructed for the purpose. Anganwadi Workers were exhibiting skills in conducting pre-education activities with great enthusiasm.  It is suggested that infrastructure should be improved and provide necessary facilities according to the standard norms of the ICDS.
