Motivation is considered the core driver behind any activity, serving as the underlying reason for behaviors characterized by willingness and interest. The aim of this article is to identify the key motivating factors that lead to the establishment of Information Technology (IT) services start-ups and to assess the impact of these factors on the growth outcomes of IT services start-ups in Kerala, India. The study employs a descriptive and analytical research approach. A total of 285 founders of IT services start-ups in Kerala were selected through systematic random sampling from a list obtained from the Start-up India website. Data was collected from the founders using a structured questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale. Individual factors appear to be the most important motivating drivers, followed by social factors, for founding IT services start-ups in Kerala. The study reveals a statistically significant relationship between founders' perceptions of motivating factors and the growth of their IT services start-ups. It also indicates a moderate variation in start-up growth due to the influence of entrepreneurial, environmental, and social factors. This research offers a unique perspective on the impact of motivating factors on the growth performance of IT services start-ups in Kerala, India.
