Eradication of poverty and unemployment still remains a challenge and hurdle in the process of economic development. It was accepted that the people belonging to the SC are the most down trodden, depressed sections lying at bottom of the Indian society. Because the most inhuman practice untouchability was historically root cause of their deplorable state. The SCs have been victims of socio-economic exploitation and deliberate discrimination. Most importantly these communities contributed their blood and sweat towards nation's development and wealth. Therefore the backwardness is not just economic, it is social too.
Entrepreneurship empowers people to take their future into their own hands through self-employment or by creating a firm that employs other people. As a part of multi-pronged approach, the Government of Telangana has decided to come with a revolutionary intervention and a new different strategy that is Dalit Bandhu which will propel the Scheduled Caste families into economic development in a big way thereby ensuring their social dignity in addition to existing entitlements like food security, education and social security. This scheme was introduced to intensify the level of financial assistance to SC households for establishment of suitable income generating economic support scheme. Their share in entrepreneurship is very low in establishing units and business firms. The SC ST sub plans were not fully utilized and efficiently. The earlier schemes are provided credit by banks in the forms of loans which was a big constraint for their economic development.
