Abstract

The Bhagavad-Gita, a timeless scripture from ancient India, is renowned for its spiritual and philosophical depth. Beyond its religious significance, the Gita offers profound psychological insights that address the complexities of human emotions, mental well-being, and personal growth. This study explores the psychological teachings of the Bhagavad-Gita, focusing on its principles of mindfulness, emotional regulation, detachment, and self-realization. Key concepts such as dharma (duty), nishkama karma (selfless action), and the tri-gunas (modes of nature) are analysed for their relevance to modern psychology. The Gita's emphasis on equanimity, resilience, and the disciplined mind is paralleled with contemporary psychological practices, including cognitive-behavioural therapy and mindfulness-based approaches. Furthermore, the study highlights the practical applications of these teachings in areas like mental health, leadership, and personal development. By bridging ancient wisdom with modern psychological frameworks, this report underscores the enduring relevance of the Bhagavad-Gita in addressing the challenges of modern life and fostering holistic well-being.
