Abstract

The Goods and Services Tax (GST) has been a significant fiscal reform in India, aiming to streamline the indirect taxation system. Since its implementation on July 1, 2017, the Goods and Services Tax (GST) has significantly affected many sectors of the economy, particularly consumer spending. The study also examines the role of demographic variables in the awareness and perceptions of consumers in the Yamuna Nagar district of Haryana regarding GST and overall satisfaction with the taxation system. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, including qualitative interviews and quantitative questionnaires, data was collected from 100 samples of this research will contribute to policymakers' understanding of the effectiveness of GST consumers in the Yamuna Nagar district of Haryana. Perceptions of GST's impact on prices and consumption behavior are diverse, with some consumers reporting increased transparency and reduced tax evasion, while others express concerns about higher prices and administrative complexities. Insights gained from implementation and inform strategies to enhance consumer awareness and satisfaction with the taxation system.
