Abstract

Moringa oleifera, a tropical plant native to the Indian subcontinent, has been used for centuries in traditional
medicine and as a nutritional supplement. The plant is rich in phytochemicals, including flavonoids,
alkaloids, and phenolic acids, which have been reported to possess antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and
antimicrobial activities. This review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the phytochemical
composition and biological activity of Moringa oleifera. The literature suggests that Moringa extracts exhibit
significant antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity, and may have potential applications in the prevention
and treatment of chronic diseases, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. Furthermore, the
plant's phytochemicals have been shown to possess antimicrobial activity, suggesting potential applications
in the development of new antimicrobial agents. Overall, this review highlights the nutraceutical and
pharmacological potential of Moringa oleifera, and suggests that further research is warranted to fully explore
its therapeutic applications.
