Abstract

The interplay between English, the most widely spoken language globally, and artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping language acquisition and pedagogy. This paper investigates the transformative impact of AI on English language teaching (ELT), exploring the capabilities of AI language tools, the implications for linguistic diversity, and the ethical considerations inherent in their use. It posits that while AI enhances personalized learning and offers innovative methodologies, it also raises critical questions regarding data privacy and the preservation of linguistic diversity. The study concludes by outlining a vision for future English language education that prioritizes human skills, ongoing research, and collaborative frameworks with AI technologies.
