Abstract

Big data technology is of significant interest to end-users and vendors at the instant. Development has accomplished significant research and Innovations in this technology domain to define and use big data, to differentiate big data projects from traditional data mining and data warehousing projects and to look at the technical requirements. There are number of approaches to processing and analyzing Big Data, but most have some common characteristics. Need to identify suitable Big Data approaches that it believes will transform the business analytics and data management markets as expected. This paper gives insights to the business case for big data projects and compares them with traditional data mining and data warehouse approaches. The extremity is that for big data projects, the traditional data mining and data warehouse approach is more expensive in software resources, takes much longer to do and delivers a less attractive return-on-investment (ROI). Whereas, big data projects are using new and less developed projects for business competences by using Hadoop and NoSQL.
