Abstract

Multimedia has become an important component of contemporary education by integrating text, graphics, audio, video, animation, presentations, simulations, and internet-based resources into teaching-learning activities. However, the availability, frequency, nature, and educational impact of multimedia may differ considerably according to geographical location, institutional management, and educational level. The present study was undertaken to compare multimedia use patterns and their educational impacts across urban and rural, government and private, and school and college levels in Amravati Division of Maharashtra. A descriptive and comparative survey design was adopted. A total sample of 400 teachers was considered, comprising 200 urban and 200 rural teachers, 200 government and 200 private-institution teachers, and 200 school and 200 college teachers. A structured Multimedia Use and Educational Impact Scale was used for data collection. Frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, independent-samples t-test, and effect-size measures were proposed for analysis. The comparative analysis indicates that institutional context plays an important role in multimedia integration. Urban institutions tend to have stronger digital infrastructure and connectivity than rural institutions, while institutional management and educational level can also influence patterns of multimedia access and classroom application. The study emphasizes the need to reduce structural disparities and promote pedagogically meaningful multimedia integration across all educational settings.
